Testamento

And you stay as a monument to the years early dreams searches, wizard of smiles, sadness interpreter marked by time. Many of your seats gave shelter to passers from this and other cities, many would be marked forever with what happened inside.

Cine Teatro Campoamor Capitol ... I prefer to read it in the words of Miguel Barnet.

Wait for it...

Wait for it... by Rey Cuba

Wait for it..., a photo by Rey Cuba on Flickr.

Yesterday I received the great news that my Nikon D600 had saved after my fall two weeks ago. I am smiling again.

Raul manager and technician from RCF read me the riot act (as we use to say in Cuba) ... if you are using large lenses...he said.. let the support point be the lens and not the camera. Beware of sudden torques or possible movement, the camera inside suffered much in its strong points and as Raul says, they had to fill it with brackets as the camera lost almost all the frame attachment.

At the end all went out was positive and I felt like these boys under a wave the last couple weeks, waiting for the reply. I thank to RCF and its people for their professionalism and dedication. We're back.

The city wakes up and with it , Saturday of conflicting emotions , ready with new energy and new fads to orient in space and I move to the place where it seems that everything is possible, there where we draw strategies and fell over time.

Seeking a new way to say , to talk about my time saying little and hoping that the reflections from clouding over the hours, the minutes pass quickly , so as I move through the rocks of the shore , someone shows dogs to stroll and take a quick bath in these waters of the caribbean, his phrase echoes in my ears over and over again ... you have to have bathrooms to avoid the smell ...

The dogs look very little appetite and allowed the owner to throw them into the water over and over again , quickly returning to shore. I happen to think with how much resistance we return again and again on our heels and we repeat the same ideas, perhaps to convince , perhaps to catch us.

A few meters later waves catch a piece of green that remains alive and bright, eager to photo from this spot, I started moving with my camera mounted on the tripod, Laura tries to make me give up, when she saw in my eyes the will, she just told me .. . go , but beware , I'll wait outside ...

I advance a few meters , I approach the wall and start to take the first steps when I slipped and uncontrolled and my bare knees hit the rock, for a moment I forget the pain that overwhelms me and look at the camera that mounted on the tripod lies just inches of the water. Instinctively I pull the battery and start to feel the pain in my knees tightly , one bleeding.

The rest is history , the Nikon D600 was break apart, I read many times , many times I hear the stories of others who stumbled and lost their equipment, I thought could not happen to me. This Saturday took care to remind the fragility of days and then at home , with a little more calm , review my steps and I am glad that only my camera and my knees suffered something this tough encounter .

I asked for a photo, she looked at me as if to say ... at this point I don´t care for a picture more or one less ... and continued pondering passers s watching her busy street on Sunday.

De cables y otras historias

De cables y otras historias by Rey Cuba
De cables y otras historias, a photo by Rey Cuba on Flickr.

I walk the streets of Old Havana with my friend Gilberto and my wife Laura, the afternoon hit us gray by surprise covering the city and the light became complicit in our walk through a part of town that screams hopes and brings back memories and joy.

I crossed in front of this building hundreds of times, inside grew one person I know, with hopes and dreams unleashed when he moved next to the Malecon and yet, saltpeter, procrastination and some other reasons made him move to another part of the slightly safer city at least architecturally.

I walked along this street as a child several times a week while going towards music, dreaming of reaching a sincere role, now way back through the same streets and is the light who catches me, I have no thirst for prominence and nothing but past stories seduce me and what to leave some print.

Cienfuegos...Cuba Photography

Reflejos Cienfuegueros

Reflejos Cienfuegueros by Rey Cuba
Reflejos Cienfuegueros, a photo by Rey Cuba on Flickr.

How much of us today is a reflection of the education of our parents, the influence of our friends from the moldings of society where we live.

We reflect much in our daily struggle on this planet earth, and then leave our mark on those who know us.

Cuba today reflects the brief history of this small island. Cubans by all parts of the world commenting on what they have had, or will have, but most of them commenting on the island, either in favor or against.

Just as here in a few years who knows how many, we will talk about other reflections, can show you other colors, because if there is something true is that the world does not stop its step and time turn into past what today seems like a good reality.

Sometimes i will stop before a reflection of what i am, but i don't spend much time in front of it, i prefer to continue my step in my journey through this voyage we call life.

Happy reflexes to all.

Avenida 54

Avenida 54 by Rey Cuba
Avenida 54, a photo by Rey Cuba on Flickr.

There are places that mark our steps and invite us to explore them, Cienfuegos 4:00 pm, in the interior of the church began the first mass of 2012 to the city's inhabitants and parishioners crowding into the place.

Outside a lukewarm light of Sunday filled the street, a few passers-by, glances flocked on others who like me wandered around the city looking for images, we meet with a group of visitors from other countries that turn the spaces in amalgams of Nikon´s, Canon´s, Sony´s, large and small lenses, by sharing some of their photos with the inhabitants of the place.

An anthill of photographers filled with alternating silences the 54 Avenue, on the one hand the songs of the first mass, competing only with one click of the triggers and the singing of the birds.

I would like a little house in the high to invite my friends, climbing on the path of the light and join me in this task it is to live.

I would like a little house in the high that brings together those who with their creation daily, his dedication, friendship without brake pass the threshold of my door.

I would like a little house in the high that invites us to look beyond the horizon and we are glad the hearts.

I would like a little house in the high to bring those who accompany me each day and know how to love well.

I would like a little house in the high for those who are near and far, that his light can be found beyond the distance.

I hope to see you all in my little house in the high. I wish you a happy 2012 to all, thanks to which i always accompany.

What in the past was a giant central, today it is in ruins and signals such as these abound everywhere inside.

I hope that you do not stop the next year in the search for your dreams and we can obviate the DON'T PASS signals that gives us life.

A hug to all and happy holidays.
