The waiting curve
Y nos paramos a esperarte ahi cerquita en la esquina, mientras te acercabas con tu paso robandole segundos al tiempo.
Nosotros esperando que te acercaras, para ver claramente las vestimentas de este nuevo dia, tu sin embargo, detenías tus pasos de ves en cuando para observar alrededor.
Algunos salieron de nuestro puesto y fueron en tu busqueda, otros nos quedamos pacientemente esperandote, mientras otros se aburrieron y tomaron otro camino un poco mas diverso o menos espinoso.
De alguna manera algunos como yo, nos quedamos detenidos en esta esquina del mundo como si afuera nada pasara y si pasa, bueno aqui seguimos, esperando en la esquina, que llegues y nos des la cara.
Espero que tengan una provechosa semana.
And there we were, standing and and waiting at the corner while you approached, your steps stealing seconds to our watches.
We hope that you get closer to to see clearly the garments of this new day, you nevertheless stop for a while from time to time to look around.
Some came from our booth and were in your search, some others remains here patiently, while others got bored and took another road a bit more diverse or less thorny.
Somehow, some like me, we keep waiting at this corner, like on the outside world nothing happened and in case anything happens, well here waiting in the corner, expecting you come and show us your face.

Havana at Night
En Cuba los niños de mi edad solíamos recibir juguetes en verano, nos tocaba a cada niño un básico, no básico y dirigido. En resumen tres juguetes con calidades y precios diferenciados, de manera tal que todos pudiesemos alcanzar.
Las colas se organizaban cada año y todos nos buscabamos en las listas para ver que día nos tocaba, los primeros días tenían los mejores juguetes, no asi tanto los de los últimos días.
Recuerdo a mi madre levantandose de madrugada para marcar en la cola del día que nos tocaba. Cuantos sacrificios para que disfrutaramos de esos juguetes cada verano.
No estamos en verano, mas bien comienzo del invierno cubano y me llegó mi nuevo juguete, espero poder sacarle partido y que me pueda durar tanto, como aquellos juguetes de antaño. Comenzaré a disfrutar de mi D600 y formato completo, veremos que tal salen las cosas.
Los quiero a todos basicos, no basicos y dirigidos amigos mios.
In Cuba the kids my age used to get toys in the summer, our parents were allow to bought to every child a basic, basic and not directed toy. In summary three toys with different qualities and prices, with the persue of a toy for everyone.
The queues were organized every year and we all were looking at the lists to see what our purchase day, the first days were the best toys at the small stores, not so much for those of the last days.
I remember my mother getting up at dawn to mark on the long line of the mark day. Many sacrifices my parents made for us enjoying those toys every summer.
It´s not summer, rather early winter in Cuban nowadays and I got my new toy, I hope to take advantage and I can last as long as those toys from yesterday. I will begin to enjoy my D600 full format, let´s see how everything goes.

Cocho
Muchas veces me cuestiono el proposito de la vida, como imagino que otros millones de personas hacen a diario.
Para algunos pareciera como si el destino cargara sobre ellos un mazo terrible de idas y venidas.
A veces tornamos el camino, cambiamos los pasos y tratamos de encontrarnos a nosotros mismos, buscar en nuestro interior debería ser mas fácil que andar hurgando en las miradas ajenas.
Hay quienes a pesar de los golpes del viento, del continuo peso de los días mantienen su amor y dedicación, su nobleza por encima de todo.
Esta foto esta dedicada para un hombre, el amigo al que los días no siempre le mostraron su mejor luz y a pesar de eso continua ofreciendo sonrisas, recuerdos y amor.
Sometimes I question the purpose of life, as I imagine some others do.
For some persons it seems as if fate charged upon them a terrible hit of comings and goings.
Sometimes we turn the way, we changed the steps and try to find ourselves, find within us should be easier than looking into some others eyes.
The more corageous ones despite the hurricanes of live, the continued heaviness of days, maintain their love and dedication, above all nobility.

Shadowed-hope
Ayer descubrí nuevamente porque me siento tan apasionado por la fotografía, cuanto puede aportarme, cuanto lo disfruto.
Laura y yo salimos a dar una vuelta cerca de la ciudad, pero fuera de ella y nos tomamos el día disfrutando de la luz y los espacios.
Muchas veces las responsabilidades nos llevan por otros derroteros, pero que reconfortante cuando te reencuentras y puedes capturar la esencia de un pequeño momento con nuestra eterna compañera, la luz.

Yesterday I discovered again why I feel so passionate about photography, how much it expand my eyes and enjoy my days.
Laura and I went for a walk around the city, but outside of it and took the day with the light and spaces.
Responsibilities often lead us in another direction, but you find yourself rewarded when you find the esense of one tiny moment captured by light.

Malfunction...Matahambre, Pinar del Rio
Es tan comun hoy en día, la teoría de comprar, usar y botar en este mundo portmoderno en el que nos ha tocado vivir, que a veces me pregunto, por cuanto tiempo mas podremos sostenerlo.
Hoy todo se fabrica para que dure un tiempo determinado y no importa si lo cuidas mucho o poco, esta casi que programado para romperse en pasado un período de tiempo, de esa manera las industrias y fabricas se mantienen produciendo constantemente.
La basura que hemos acumulado en los últimos 20 años debe ser mucho mas que la de siglos anteriores.
No en balde mis hijas y yo nos sorprendemos al encontrar obras que los hombres construyeron para la posteridad.
Parece que ese tipo de pensamiento ya esta pasado de moda.
It is so common today, the theory of buying, use and dispose, everything within this postmodern world we are living it, sometimes I wonder how we can hold it.
Today everything is made to last a certain period of time and no matter if We cared much or little, is almost programmed to break in a given time, that way the industries and factories are producing constantly.
The junk we have accumulated over the last 20 years should be much more than in previous centuries.
No wonder why my daughters and I found ourselves surprised to stop in front of places that the men built for posterity.
It seems that this line of thinking is already outdated.

Atados, Baracoa
Cuando los días dibujan sus difusos contornos y que la orilla ya no es la misma, me dispongo a otear el horizonte.
Pero no hay cuerda que pueda atarte sin dudas y asaltan la memorias, recuerdos, que fueron creados o compartidos.
Los pasos del cada día se vuelven penosos y pareciera como si el fango alcanzara el gris de las ciudades.
Pareciera como si las dudas rodearan el castillo de las esperanzas por estos días.
As the days draw their fuzzy contours and the bank is no longer the same, I am about to scan the horizon.
But there can rope and tie without doubts assail the memories, memories that were created or shared.
Steps every day become painful and it seems as if the mud reached the gray of the cities.
It seems as if the doubts surround the castle of hope these days.

taking a memory home
Sometimes it seems that some days of our past are not there anymore, some others looks like a dream.
But there is always the possibility of making new dreams, new roads to be taken and enjoy.
This was taken while I was visiting Niagara Falls back in June. A magic place.

Algunas veces pareciera como si algunos días del pasado no formaran parte de mi memoria, otros días me recuerdan algun que otro sueño.
Siempre queda la posibilidad de construir nuevos sueños y recorrer nuevos caminos, disfrutando nuevamente.
Esta foto fue tomada mientras visitaba las cataratas del Niagara en Junio pasado, sin lugar a dudas un magico lugar.
No es un HDR, editada mediante PS con tratamiento de zonas.

Regreso a Casa...Old Havana
Llevo varios dias desaparecido de Flickr, pero entre los estudios y que ademas Laura y yo estamos preparando una exposición para el próximo 2 de Noviembre no he tenido mucho tiempo de hacer otra cosa.
Nos invitaron a presentar un proyecto por parte de la Academia de Fotografía Cabrales del Valle en un evento auspiciado por la Fototeca de Cuba llamado Noviembre Fotográfico y que tiene lugar en diferentes espacios de la Habana Vieja.
A nosotros nos corresponde el honor de exponer en la Casa Humbolt que es el edificio amarillo que está al fondo a la derecha de esta foto.
Aún andamos enrredados en todo lo que tiene que ver con el montaje, tenemos que explotar las mejores opciones pues los costos son altos y es algo en lo que siempre hay que pensar. Pero de las limitaciones siempre han salido las mejores ideas.
Les hago saber como va marchando el proyecto mas adelante. Un abrazo y los quiero a todos.
I've been dissappeared from Flickr for a while, but between been studied and also an expo that Laura and me are preparing and it took place next early November. I have not had much time to do anything else.
We were invited to submit a project by the Academy of Photography Cabrales del Valle at an event sponsored by the Fototeca de Cuba called Photographic November and takes place in different areas and galleries of Havana.
For both of us is an honour to exhibiting at the Humboldt House is the yellow building that is at the background right of this photo.
We are thinking and rethinking the best alternatives to mount the exhibition and assembly it, we have to exploit the best choices because costs are high and it's something to take care. But from the limitations have always come out the best ideas.

Equilibrio en Casablanca, Habana, Cuba
Ayer tuvimos un día feriado en Cuba y salimos con nuestros lentes a tratar de capturar un pedacito del cada día en esta islita del Caribe.
La ciudad nos recibió al inicio con lluvia, pero decidimos persistir y luego nos regalo una tarde calida y llena de luz.
Hay días en los que no podría caminar por un puente así, pues el desbalance de mis pasos es enorme, por eso miro las caras de mis coterraneos, su fuerza para reponerse a la adversidad, su entrega ante el cada día y me pido ser un poco mas fuerte.
Hay días en los que quisiera sonreir mas y molestarme menos, pero no todos los días encontramos el equilibrio.
Yesterday we had a holiday in Cuba and we departure with the company of our lenses to try to capture a bit of every day in this little island in the Caribbean.
The city welcomed us with rain early, but we decided to persist and then gave us an afternoon full of warmth and light.
There are days when I could not walk across a bridge like this one, as the imbalance weight my steps, so I look at the faces of my countrymen, their strength to bounce back from adversity, their every day dedication and I ask myself to be a little harder.
There are days when I want to smile more and bother less, but not every day I am capable of.

Cuban's PDA
Life is always evolving and changing, the ones who sometimes are reluctant to change are ourselves.
It's hard to stay, but is harder not to evolve as time request.
La vida esta en constante cambio y evolución, los que nos resistimos muchas veces al cambio somos nosotros mismos.

Salirme de la ciudad que en ocasiones me ahoga, es para mi una necesidad imperiosa.
Por eso algunas veces nos escapamos en busca de la luz y la paz en las miradas, del hablar pausado y disfrute del cada día.
Y el color nos recorre las venas reactivando la circulación de amor y pensamientos.
Getting out of the city that sometimes chokes me, somtimes is a most.
That is why the road is beneath us and we run away in search of light and peace in the eyes, the soft-spoken and enjoy every day.
And the color runs through the veins, reactivating the circulation of love and thoughts.

a la orilla del malecon me senté...
Ayer gracias a la entrevista que Luis Martínez le realizó a Manuel Vilanova, fotografo español no solo pude admirar su trabajo, sino que ademas puede constatar el trabajo de algunos de los fotografos que forman parte de sus referentes y es el caso de Santos Moreno.
El trabajo de Moreno sobre Cuba y el acercamiento realizado a una parte de nuestras realidades me ha parecido certero en muchas de sus fotos.
