Historias del Hotel Palace
Desde principios del siglo XX se comenzaron a construir en La Habana los edificios de apartamentos para alquilar, inicialmente de dos y tres plantas, dedicados a obtener el máximo beneficio económico de los terrenos, pero fue después, al período conocido como las “vacas gordas” que se generalizó su construcción y su progresivo crecimiento en altura, bajo los códigos estilísticos del eclecticismo, el art decó y el neocolonial.

El hotel Palace, en la esquina de G y 25, con diez plantas y una torre de tres niveles que años después, quedaría embebida en otras tres plantas que se le adicionaron.
El Hotel Presidente en Calzada y G ambos de 1928, entre otros, fueron los pioneros de la altura.
Para Enrique Pineda Barnet director de La bella del Alhambra, se mudo al hotel Palace, en la calle G y 25 cuando niño, que era en aquella época un hotelito para diplomáticos modestos, y como tenía cinco años le daba por cantar donde quiera y cantaba en el restaurancito del hotel.
1931 - Se inaugura “Radio Popular Cubana” CMCD (925 Kcs.) en la azotea del Hotel Palace, Los estudios estaban en la azotea, que entonces era el único hotel de apartamentos de Cuba, administrado por el Arquitecto José Pérez Benitoa.

Palace Hotel Stories

For Enrique Pineda Barnet director of La bella del Alhambra, moved to the Palace Hotel on G Street and 25 as a child, who was at that time a modest little hotel for diplomats, and he at the age of five started to sing wherever, included the little hotel´s restaurant.
