“Roble de olor”…Angerona, Artemisa

Cuentan las historias que en el siglo XIX recorriendo las calles habaneras se encontraron el culto emigrado de Brehmen Cornelio Sausse y la elegante y acaudalada exiliada Haitiana Ursula Lambert.

Entre ambos nació un amor no propio de aquellos tiempos debido a su matiz racial, es así como el alemán le compra una finca a su amante y ambos se retiran a construir el segundo cafetal en importancia de Cuba en aquella época.

Las historias cuenta que el cafetal albergaba 450 esclavos que para la época recibían un trato diferenciado según nos llega de tradición oral, los restos de la finca contienen avanzadas técnicas para almacenaje de agua y producción de café, en sus 538 hectáreas fueron capaces de producir hasta 150 000 libras de grano tan preciado en la época.

A la entrada de la finca se encontraba una escultura la Angerona, diosa del silencio y la voz interior, con origen en la cultura romana.

Llegamos al lugar tratando de encontrar dicha escultura y me entero luego que la misma fue robada por desconocidos y luego encontrada en algún lugar de San Antonio de los Baños, hoy se encuentra en el museo de Artemisa.

Me prometí volver a este lugar de encanto, la próxima provisto de alguna loción contra jejenes y mosquitos que dominan la zona y nos molestaron durante las dos horas de visita al lugar.

At the entrance of the estate was a sculpture Angerona, Goddess of silence and inner voice, originating in Roman culture.

We arrived at the site trying to find this sculpture and I found out, that it was stolen by unknown persons and then found somewhere in San Antonio de los Baños, is now in the Museum of Artemisa.

I promised return to this place of Enchantment, the next with any lotion against gnats and mosquitoes that dominate the area and never stop bothering us during the two-hour visit to the site.
