La idea de este blog puede irse modificando en el tiempo, como modificamos nuestros pasos cada día, pero mostrar un pedacito de la ciudad donde vivo y su gente ha sido siempre mi primicia desde que comencé en el mundo de la fotografía. Por eso quiero compartir con Uds esta visión "Desde mi Habana"

Blanco y Negro en el 259-
El pasado domingo tuve la suerte de compartir una tarde con cinco fotografos de Hong Kong, de uno de ellos Clement he visto muchísimas fotos y nos conocemos a través de la magia de Flickr.
Estos cinco maravillosos seres humanos compartieron conmigo una pequeña ruta en dos lugares de la ciudad, conversamos un poco, sonreímos mucho, visitamos Luyanó y las alturas de Santos Suarez.
Entablamos conversaciones con los vecinos, en ocasiones no hacia falta la palabra, bastaba con el hecho de que las manos , las miradas y las sonrisas formaban parte de todo lo que se necesitaba para que fotografos y vecinos de esta ciudad La Habana intercambiaran un momento donde la luz era la principal protagonista.
Por un momento me sentí tan feliz de ser cubano, muchas sonrisas, saludos entre mis compatriotas del barrio, los niños posando para las fotos, los adultos que les deseaban un buen día, un santero conversando sobre las buenas energías en Hong Kong y en La Habana, una recidente en un solar de Luyano que nos invito a caminar su interior, mientras nos contaba de sus odiseas para tratar de arreglar el inmueble.
Familias en la acera descansando de la suave brisa de domingo, otros disfrutando del partido de beisbol entre Matanzas en Industriales, para terminar en la casa de un artesano en la zona mas alta de Santos Suarez donde nos permitieron pasar a tomar unas fotos de la ciudad desde las alturas.
Realmente mis amigos de Hong Kong y yo pasamos un momento muy agradable en nuestro photowalk habanero.

Last Sunday i had the chance to share an evening with five photographers from Hong Kong, one of them Clemente i have seen many photos and we know through the magic of Flickr. These five wonderful human beings share with me a small tour in two parts of the city, we talked a little, cheerfulness much, we walked through Luyanó and the heights of Santos Suárez.
We have been engaged in talks with the neighbours, sometimes not need the word, it was enough to the fact that the hands, the eyes and smiles were part of everything needed for the both the photographers and neighbours of this Havana to share a moment where the light was the main actor.
For a moment i was so happy to be Cuban, lot of smiles, greetings from my fellows of the neighbourhood, children posing for the pictures, adults in their wish of a good day, a Yoruba santero talking about the good energies in both Hong Kong and Havana, a woman from a Cuban solar in the middle of Luyanó that invite us to walk the inside, while she told us her stories to try to fix the building.
Families in the sidewalk resting of the gentle Sunday´s breeze, others enjoying the game of baseball between Matanzas and Industriales, to end up in the house of an artisan in the higher area of Santos Suárez where we were going to take some pictures of the city from the heights.
Really my friends of Hong Kong and i spent a moment in our very nice photowalk . I wish to much to see their photos from Cuba.

Havana in one shot
Tantas veces he querido ver la Habana desde el mar, fotografiarla desde el mar abierto y tantas veces he tenido que guardar esas ganas dentro de mis sueños.
Por eso cada vez que puedo me dirijo a la orilla mas cercana a través de su bahía y la miro desde su mas apegado vecino del otro lado.
Siempre me seduce el encontrarme con un edificio que no habia notado, un balcón o una corniza, La Habana siempre me sorprende y a veces solo a veces sueño con capturarla en una sola foto.
So many times I wanted to see the Habana from the sea, to photograph it from the open sea and so many times i had to save this desire in my dreams.
This is why every time i can i turn to the shore nearest through the bay and watch from its more immersed in neighbouring on the other side.
Havana seduce me always on to meet a building which had not have noticed, a balcony or shape, Havana always surprises me and sometimes single sometimes i dream of capturing it in a single photo.

Raúl
Raúl vive en la bahía de Cienfuegos, cerca del Castillo de Jagua, vive en una casa con pilotes al mar con su esposa Rosa y sus dos nietos Manuel y Monica.
Su hijo y nuera pasan la mayor parte del tiempo trabajando en la ciudad y regresan a casa los fines de semana para reunirse todos.
Raúl tiene ya 74 años y aún lleva el sustento a la casa, su bote pasea turistas del patio y extranjeros por la bahía y te lleva a los rincones que no ves desde las costas, visitas cayos que se encuentra alrededor y te enteras de lo duro que fue cuando paso el último ciclón.
Es un cubano de estos tiempos que aún se mueve con fuerza por los mares de Cuba.
Raúl live in the bay of Cienfuegos, near the Castillo de Jagua, his home at the Cienfuegos bay shore with piles to the sea and his wife Rosa and their two grandsons Manuel and Monica.
His son and daughters-in-law spend most of the time working in the city and return home on the weekend to meet all.
Raúl has already 74 years and is still carrying the living on the house, the boat ride of the Cuban tourists or foreign accross the bay and leads to the corners that you don´t see from the coast, Key visits, it´s inhabitants and told us about the hard time when the last hurricane strike.
A cuban of these times that even moves to force by the seas of Cuba.

Aves de Paso
Y nos movemos por este mundo, por las calles que nos tocaron transitar, algunas fijas en una ciudad o país, otras recorriendo carreteras y vías de otras partes del planeta.
Pero siempre en movimiento, en busqueda de la esencia, de la verdad, de la razon de la existencia, pasamos por la vida cual aves de paso y a veces algunos pueden dejar alguna huella en el camino.
And we move through this world, in the streets we live by some of those fixed in a city or country were you born, other touring roads and other parts of the planet.
Always on the move, in search of the essence of the truth, the reason for the existence, we're in the life like birds passing by and sometimes some can make some mark on the road.

Linear Hope
Desde el 11 de Mayo de este año se desarrollará en Cuba la 11na edicion de la Bienal de la Habana, este año el tema es Prácticas artísticas e imaginarios sociales.
La Academia de Fotografía Cabrales del Valle me convocó junto a otros 4 fotografos para realizar una muestra colateral, tocando el tema de la fotografía abstracta utilizando la ciudad y su arquitectura como soporte creativo.
Esta es mi primera propuesta y estoy trabajando para lograr otras propuestas para dicha exposición.

From 11 May of this year will be held in Cuba the 11th edition of the Bienal de la Habana, the theme for this year is arts e imaginarios sociales.
The Academy of Photography "Cabrales del Valle" convoked me together with other 4 photographers for a collateral exhibition, playing the subject of abstract photography using the city and its architecture as creative base.
This is my first proposal and i have been working to achieve other proposals for the exhibition.

Dust to lost
El Papa esta visitando Cuba y todo el país es un hervidero de personas moviendose en función de este evento.
Para muchos razón de esperanza, para otros un día mas con mas discursos y palabras en el aire.
Yo solo espero que como humanos, como cubanos, tratemos de ser un poquito mejores, con nuestros hijos, padres y amigos, eso me es suficiente para tener un mejor día.
Los restos de este templo se encuentran en Trinidad, espero en mi próxima visita ver mas adelantadas las obras de reconstrucción.
The Pope is visiting Cuba and all of the country is bustling of people dedicate in function of this event.
For many reason some people a reason to increase hope in the future, for others one more day with speeches and words in the air.
I just hope that as humans, as Cubans, we should try to be a bit better with our children, parents and friends, this will be enough for a better day.
The remains of the temple in Trinidad, i hope in my next visit to see more advanced of the reconstruction.

Cojimar´s Stories
Cojimar got some stories as an small fishermen town, it´s people embrace the warm sea today as they did in the past as Hemingway tour their streets on his stories and friends.
Smile on their faces, fish odour, beer, running kids, this house stand in front of Hemingway´s favourite restaurant, it´s walls getting the last sun rays of this Caribbean afternoon.

Cojímar tiene algunas historias como un pequeño pueblo de pescadores, su gente abraza el calido mar hoy en día, asi como lo hicieron en el pasado cuando Hemingway recorría sus calles con sus historias y amigos.
Sonrisas en sus rostros, el olor de pescado, cerveza, niños corriendo, esta casa esta al cruzar la calle del restaurante favorito de Hemingway y sus paredes resguardan los últimos rayos de sol de una tarde en el Caribe.

Taxis
La Habana se ha repletado de autos de los 50 recorriendo como dragones hambrientos las calles en busca de sus víctimas que con un billete en la mano negocian su próximo destino.
Muchos han cambiado y renovado los motores y se mueven a una velocidad vertiginosa por todos lados, luchan por los espacios en las calles pero a precios fijos, inamovibles como estatutos o leyes.
Toda esta jauría en busca del pan del cada día se mueve por la ciudad otorgandole una peculiaridad diferente a nuestras calles comparados con cualquier otra parte del mundo.
Havana has been drown with cars from the 50´s, touring as hungry dragons the streets in search of their victims with a ticket in the hand negotiating their next destination.
Many have changed and renewed engines and move to a dizzying speeds by all sides, fight for the spaces on the streets but at fixed price, irremovable as statutes or laws.
All of this pack in search of the every day bread moves by the city operating a unique feature of our streets compared with any part of the world.

After Coffee
I was strolling old Havana ´s streets when this sweet old man asked me, could you give me one peso for a coffee.
His daughter was calling across the street and making me signs not to give any money, he just run from his daily spot in front of the house toward the nearest corner.
He yelled her..."I´m just going to take some coffee at the corner cafee"... the daughter explained me later that this place no longer exist but in his memory.
After a while I saw his daughter giving him a cup of coffee and he surrender to a soft cigarette as every day.
Estaba paseando por las calles de La Habana Vieja este pasado Domingo, cuando se me acerca un señor de algunos años y me preguntó... ¿podría darme un peso para tomar un café?...
Su hija al otro lado de la calle, lo llamaba y me hizo señales de que no les entregara ningun dinero.
El Sr que acaba de huir de su asiento habitual delante de su casa hacia la esquina más cercana.
El le gritó a su hija ... "Voy a tomar con un poco de café al lado" ... la hija me explicó más tarde que este lugar ya no existía mas que en su memoria.
Después de un rato vi que su hija le entregaba una taza de café y él se concentró en un cigarro suave como todos los dias.
